David Morgan-Billinglsey, known traditionally as Guux tsuuts or “Bird Hunter,” is from Gitanyow, British Columbia, and is deeply connected to his Indigenous heritage. As a new Legal Support Worker for the Law Foundation, his role focuses on advocating for the rights of all those in need of poverty law support, in particular Indigenous peoples in urban communities we serve.
David’s strong skills in computer and information technology enable him to effectively navigate legal systems and assist clients in understanding complex information. He is aware of the emotional challenges that legal matters can bring and strives to provide clear, accessible guidance while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
His background gives him valuable insight into the issues faced by urban Indigenous communities, including the effects of the residential school system and ongoing distrust in legal institutions. David aims to foster trust and provide culturally sensitive support to clients, embodying resilience and advocacy in his work. His commitment to uplifting his community and addressing historical injustices reflects his dedication to ensuring Indigenous voices are heard and respected within the legal system.
