Hadï Jackie Maurer sozï’/Hello, my name is Jackie Maurer. My family originates from the Okanagan/Colleville Nation, & Germany.  I am also an adopted member of the Wet’suwet’en Nation, Gitdumden clan. Born and raised on the beautiful Wet’suwet’en territory, I am privileged to continue living, working, and raising my family here.

For over a decade, I have been a dedicated team member at the Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre, where I primarily work as the Indigenous Early Years Worker, supporting families and nurturing community connections. My educational journey includes a background as an Early Childhood Educator, with ongoing studies towards a diploma in Special Needs and Infant and Toddler Care, as well as certifications in Indigenous-Focused Trauma Training and Indigenous Tools for Living.

I am part of a blended family, with three children of my own, four adult stepchildren, and six wonderful grandchildren. My hobbies include anything outdoors, as I deeply enjoy being on the land.  I enjoy hunting, fishing, and recently started exploring and building my skill set in the art of tanning. My passion lies in culture, healing, and fostering meaningful connections. I am committed to creating and holding space where people can come together to experience and celebrate these values.

The Early Years program provides culturally appropriate programming for children and families, including weekly drop-in programming, referrals, home visit support, and one-on-one support to early years families in Houston and its surrounding communities.
