Annual Events

Aboriginal Day

June 21 is National Aboriginal Day in Canada – when we recognize and honour the cultures and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. At the Friendship Centre, we celebrate with a barbeque, traditional dancers, and by holding the Joanne Peter Memorial Soapberry Whipping Contest and Fred George Memorial Moose Calling Contest, as well as other fun events. Come out and celebrate our unique heritage and diverse cultures with us – everyone is welcome! We gratefully acknowledge the support of Safeway Canada in sponsoring our barbeque, as well as multiple community volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you!
