This Christmas, the Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre is inviting local businesses and community members to partner with our organization and support the Dze L K’ant Welcome Home Fundraiser.
In February 2026, Dze L K’ant Housing Society will open Ken’ulh K’it Yikh, our Housing Society’s first Indigenous Housing Project located at 1611 Main Street in Smithers.
This beautiful new building has been made possible through our partnership with BC Housing’s Indigenous Housing Fund, and it will soon become home to Indigenous elders and families in our community in need of affordable housing.
While the building itself and the shared common spaces will be furnished, the individual homes are unfurnished.
The Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre’s Indigenous Housing Support Program’s Welcome Home Fund is now accepting financial contributions to allow our team to purchase furnishings and prepare Welcome Home Kits for our future tenants.
Your donation, in any amount big or small, will help us furnish these new homes and ensure warmth and comfort for our new tenants.
Your contribution will allow our Indigenous Housing Support Program to purchase:
- Beds and bedding
- Couches and seating
- Dining tables and chairs
- Basic kitchen items for cooking and sharing meals
- Basic bathroom items.
Together as a community, we can ensure our Elders and families step into a space that says, You belong here. You are home.
We are able to provide a Charitable Tax Receipt for all donations. All those who donate will be recognized on our website and social media, and will receive a warm invitation to our building’s grand opening celebration.
